• NSF Workshop On Power Electronics-Enabled Operation Of Power Systems

The PEAC (Power, Energy, and Control) Research Group is based at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, USA. It was founded and directed by Professor Qing-Chang Zhong, Fellow of IEEE and IET.

Our mission is to seamlessly integrate the disciplines of control and systems engineering, power electronics, and power systems to tackle the fundamental challenges in energy and power systems.

Our vision is to harmonize power grids worldwide.

Our core values are Creative, Active, Positive, and Supportive.

Our SYNDEM (meaning Synchronized and Democratized) grid architecture and the associated virtual synchronous machines (VSM) technologies are uniquely positioned to make power systems worldwide stable, reliable, secure, resilient, and sustainable. This perfectly addresses the regulatory mandate of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) on the provision of grid support and the recent legislation on protecting our grid from malicious cyber-attacks.
